Aloo ki tikki potato kabab potato cutlets. Easy way

Potato cutlets |aloo ki tikki :aloo ke kabab

It is difficult for the lady of the house to decide what to cook today. Or what should be today’s meal? Because she has to manage it with other daily chores and everyone in the house has a different choice of food. One thing elders like the most might b unliked by the kids or if one thing is favourite of kids but elders may have a different mood.

So today I brought a very simple, tasty and easy recipe for you. Which is liked by every age group and took very little effort to be ready and within very little time. Potatoes are liked by everyone so today’s recipe is POTATO CUTLETS or ALOO K KABAB or simply ALOO KI TIKKI.

This recipe is my favourite from my childhood. It's my mother’s recipe. This is how she made it. I am gonna share it with you people.

INGREDIENTS

As I told you it's a simple recipe so you would find all the things in your kitchen already. They are:

Potatoes.                   ½ kg or (4 to 5 large)

Salt.                          ½ teaspoon

Red chillies.               ½ teaspoon

Chilli flakes.               ½ teaspoon

Turmeric powder.      ¼ teaspoon

Coriander powder.     1 ½ teaspoon

(roughly ground)

Cumin powder.           ½ teaspoon

(zeera powder)

Mix spices powder.    ¼ teaspoon

(garam masala)

Fresh coriander leaves.     Half cup

Onion.                                 1 normal size

Green chillies.                     3 to 4

RECIPE

First of all wash all the vegetables i.e potatoes, coriander, green chillies, onion after peeling.

The next step is to boil the potatoes and mash them with a masher or hands after peeling. Chop the onions, green chillies and coriander leaves and add them in mashed potatoes. Then add salt, chillies and other dry ingredients. Mix them well.

Make a ball-like shape and press it. Or use a mould to give it a cookie-like shape but it might be larger than a cookie. Or simply you have to give it a round shape. I usually do it by hand easily. But doing it by mould can give you the same size that looks prettier.

Shallow frying Potato cutlets aloo ki tikki

Now just shallow fry it in a frying pan. I usually use my chapati pan for frying POTATO CUTLETS. They don't need much oil to fry if you fry them in more oil they will be soft and may break and will not be crispy.

Fry them on medium-high flame and flip them properly. Try to avoid over-frying. Just give them some golden brown colour from both sides and that's it. You can also use a beaten egg coating on Potato cutlets before frying. But this is optional. Sometimes I apply beaten eggs and sometimes not. But in both ways, they are super tasty.

Your Aloo ki tikki or Potato kebab is ready now.

Serving aloo ki tikki or potato cutlets with hari chutney and naan

Serving

You can serve these yummy Potato cutlets with chapati or naan with green pudina(mint) chutney and salad. Or you can also serve it with tea as a tea time snack to your family or guests. I am sure both ways it will give you a great taste.

If you enjoyed today’s recipe and tried it, tell me in the comments. Thank you
