Parenting is very difficult, hence the most exciting thing in the world at the same time.Being a mother is such a great responsibility, on the other hand full of emotions. If a baby couldn't sleep well or is uncomfortable the mother also feels bad and holds herself responsible.
So today, I decided to share my experience of DIY BABY SWING or a CLOTH CRADLE for my baby.
The complete look of my DIY BABY SWING |
HOW TO MAKE A BABY CRADLE OF COTTON CLOTH:
DIY BABY SWING is very simple to make. I use some spare things at my home to make a cotton cradle for my baby. Or you can say recycling some old stuff to create DIY BABY SWING.
NECESSARY STUFF:
Ok let me tell you what things I used to make a cotton cloth cradle for my baby. You may need
Cotton almost 2.5 yards
A thread real for stitching
Inches tape for measuring
Coloured chalk for marking points
Round wooden stick almost 50 inches (usually used for mops and brooms I used this one because my one was a recycling kind of project so)
Hooks 2
Latches 2
Nails to fix the latches (it depends on kind of latches you may need 2 or 4 in my case i needed 4)
Rope
Elastics
Hooks over latches on the door's threshold |
How to make DIY BABY SWING
First of all I folded the piece of cloth in two folds, and cut the wooden round stick into half it became 25 inches for both sides, stitched the edges of the cloth from width side(this must be of 2.5 inches you can mark them, from both sides they must be equal by marking it would became easier to stich) in such a way so that the half wooden stick can be easily put into it and then closed its both ends by stitching after putting the wooden stick in, so that the wooden stick could not come out of it and remain fix in.
Then make small holes in cloth on all four ends to tie up the nought with rope to hang it up with hooks(where there was wooden stick so that the cloth may not get a tear, and the wooden stick also remain tied up with rope) . The sides were somehow loosen so I stitched elastic into the sides so that the baby could not slip out and fell off. In this way I get my baby cradle ready.
In the end I decided to hang it on the door’s threshold. So I fix the latches on both sides of the threshold with nails and hang it with the help of hooks.
Now it has become very easy for me. Whenever I want to remove it I simply remove the hooks and put them aside and when I have to put my baby there I simply attach it back.
Thats how the DIY BABY SWING looks like. |
Due to the softness of the cotton cloth the baby felt so comfortable and fell asleep easily. This recycling kind of DIY BABY SWING has made my life so much easier.
As I used all the things mostly from home only I had to buy the hooks and nails from the market they were not at my home. But if you buy them from the store even then this project would cost you a very little bit instead of purchasing expensive products like baby swings and cradles etc.
I Recommend you to make this one at home for your baby. Believe me it's worth your efforts and the happiness is priceless when you do something for your baby with your hands.
Whenever I see my baby happily sleeping in it I feel so happy that I made him comfortable.
