Steam chicken

Steam Chicken

It was Friday, and as always it is an important day of the week for us(being Muslims), so I always cook special food on that day, in my childhood my mother also do the same because at that time it was considered an official off day in whole Pakistan later on Sunday was considered to be off in school, colleges, offices etc. As on Friday, all the family members were home so Mom was used to cooking something special which everyone would like. Later on, the holiday changed to Sunday but special food was still cooked on Friday. And what was that special food which was the family's favourite? Yes, that was rice(pulao, biryani) with chicken/beef green salad and raita or green chatni.

Anyways, this was my childhood's memory which I shared with you so today while cooking, I just decided to share this week's recipe with you that was STEAM CHICKEN

How I make Steam Chicken

Ingredients:

Chicken:                   1kg

Salt:                          1 tsp(to taste)

Red chillies:              1 tsp

Black pepper:            ½  tsp

Coriander powder:     ½  tsp

Cumin powder:          ½ tsp

Mixed ground spices: ¼ tsp

Chilli flakes:                ½  tsp

Turmeric powder:       ¼ tsp

Garlic paste:               1 TSP

Ginger paste:              1 TSP

Yoghurt:                      ½  cup

Red food colour:         a pinch

Vinegar:                      1 TSP

Soya sauce:                1 TSP

Hot sauce(optional):    ½ TSP

Lemon juice:               4 TSPs or 1 lemon's juice

Spices used in steam chicken

Recipe:

Marination:

Wash the chicken. Remove all the veins and clotted blood etc from it. Leave it for 10 mins under a fan in a strainer, until dry. Or you can pat dry with a clean kitchen towel or tissue paper. Beat the yoghurt well and put all the ingredients in it one by one. Mix well, make sure all the ingredients are well combined. Now put the chicken into it and spread the mixture all over, not a single part should remain without it.

Now cover it with a lid, or a cling sheet and put it in the refrigerator for 45 mins to an hour and a half.

Preparations:

Take a deep pot, place a cooking stand in it(it could be any), pour some water approximately half a cup. Then place the marinated chicken over it. Cover with the lid. On the flame, first 10 mins it could be high flame, and after that 20 to 25 mins it could be on low to medium flame. You have to cook it for about 30 to 40 mins depending on your flame. Check with a fork if it is soft, turn the flame off.

Note:

You can also use any steamer instead of a simple pot and there is another option of air fryer to make this chicken. But I recommend you to use a steamer or a pot. It gives a better taste to your STEAM CHICKEN.

This STEAM CHICKEN is fully heiginic and specially for those moms and housewives who are on a diet and need some healthy and tasty food. As there is no oil used in the recipe and also when cooked this way all the fats of chicken will come out and drop down to the bottom of the pot. In this way there is a very less quantity of fats left.

Try this recipe, enjoy your food and also don't forget to tell me how do you find it in the comments section.
